In the city of Monterrey, Nuevo León, the garbage generated by its inhabitants is converted into electricity. The 4 thousand 500 daily tons of waste coming from Monterrey and nearby cities, arrive at the Simeprode sanitary landfill and are deposited in a container that releases the biogas produced by them, captures it and takes it through special pipes to a plant of energy generation while the waste is compacted and covered with a layer of earth. The extracted biogas passes through the turbines that generate the electrical energy; and in this way around 400 thousand megawatts / hour are produced, which are used to power the electricity supply in public lighting, of seven municipalities in the metropolitan area, lines 1 and 2 of the Metrorrey Collective Transport System, the Palacio de Government, the state DIF and the general offices of Agua y Drenaje de Monterrey.

250 million dollars of solar energy in Aguascalientes
In the next two years, the operation in Aguascalientes of five electricity generating plants from the sunlight with an investment of 250 million dollars is expected. The first two photovoltaic parks will come into operation in September of this year with an estimated production of 350 megawatts, while the remaining three will be completed between 2019 and 2020. In the end, an output of more than one thousand megawatts is estimated. The president of the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE), Guillermo Ignacio García Alcocer, commented that Aguascalientes has favorable characteristics for the establishment of this type of infrastructure thanks to its location, climatic conditions, among other factors. Likewise, he mentioned that the possibility of prices becoming cheaper grows as the production of electrical energy moves towards renewable sources.
